In this article we’ll be breaking down a super valuable and super simple framework to help you navigate your content plans and stay on top of everything. As we all know, it can be incredibly hard to understand the best practices and constantly push to make your content better. There are so many people telling you different things about the algorithms, what content to focus on, and how to stay relevant. So this will hopefully give you a super simple foundation to build upon for all types of content on all types of platforms.
The Three C’s are the three most important aspects of content creation, and they are community, consistency, and content (no shock there). Let’s dive into each of these in a bit more detail… Let’s start with the most important one, CONTENT.
-
CONTENT
Of course this is a very broad term that is used to address any type of digital entertainment, but there are many elements of content to think about. To simplify this very broad term, I’ve broken it down into four main components:
- Production Quality
- This concerns to what level of quality the technical elements of the content are.
- This can be from how crisp your audio sounds to the standard of your video editing.
- Relevance
- You are appealing to an audience who have collective interests, therefore you need your content to resonate directly with those people.
- To do this properly, you need to understand the type of audience you have (audience metrics help greatly with this).
- Composition
- How is the video structured to keep the viewer engaged and entertained throughout?
- Using hooks, building tension and delivering a crescendo are the building blocks of a great piece of content.
- Optimisation
- How are you framing your video to boost it’s chances of coming up in search engines and feeds?
- Paying attention to your video descriptions and titles can be crucial.
-
CONSISTENCY
This one is all-round pretty obvious but it can be really hard to understand what kind of consistency to aim for depending on your content and the type of platform.
The way to view consistency is through the length of your content and the production value of it. Here is how I break this down:
- Long-form content (8 minutes+) with high production value can get away with being less frequent (once a week).
- Medium-form content (60 seconds+) with medium production value should be posted more frequently (3/4 times a week).
- Short-form content (less than 45 seconds) with low production should be posted every day.
Of course these are very general rules, and each creator differs in their level of spare time to create content and the amount of time their content takes to produce. However, if you are making TikTok or Instagram video content this should be posted 3/4 times a week MINIMUM if you want to achieve sustained and consistent growth.
-
COMMUNITY
While producing and optimising the actual content is the most important element of achieving content success and growth, the importance of caring and interacting with your community cannot be underestimated.
But staying on top of comments isn’t everything, let me show you the many ways you can boost your community impact:
- Creator community
- As I’m sure many of you know, the value of collaborating with other creators is massive. Not only does it introduce each others audience to loads of new people, but it boosts the quality of the content enormously.
- For those in the UK, the Sidemen is a perfect example of why this can take your content and personal brand to another level.
- Wider discussion spaces
- Being present in general fan communities can be huge for boosting your profile and meeting other like-minded creators.
- It is as simple as speaking to people on Twitter, Instagram or setting up a WhatsApp chat.
- Your audience
- The most important of these three is to be present and engage with your community by liking and interacting with comments and starting discussions. More than anything the algorithm loves it!
